Coco

  • (CHALLENGE)
The concept for Pixar's Coco is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday, which is a tradition where family and friends gather to pay respects and remember those who have died. With the film's storyline deeply rooted in Mexican culture, Pixar wanted a campaign that celebrated the annual traditions in a way that maintained a sense of respect and authenticity.
  • (SOLUTION)
For our Coco microsite, Watson built an interactive web experience that allowed fans to create their own  unique Papel Picado banners, much like those used as decorations during Day of The Dead celebrations. By using a wide assortment of premade assets, fans were able to create their own digital shareables that allowed them to join in on the annual holiday while maintaining a sense of personal connections to their creations, and the film’s celebratory themes of family and remembrance.
