Suspiria

  • (CHALLENGE)
Through the doors of an inconspicuous dance academy lies some really horrifying shit. After all, this is Suspiria - a film full of unsettling body movements, a Tilda Swinton witch, and very, very sharp hooks. This reinterpretation of the 70’s film received a more feminist treatment this time around, helping solidify the horror baddie of the moment: satanic witches.
  • (SOLUTION)
Patricia’s Diary is the entrypoint. A mobile diary filled with Patricia’s observations on the school, her overbearing teachers, and her devolving grip on reality. Every page is more disturbing than the last, and houses a unique interactive “ritual” where you trace pentagrams and coffins to unearth demonic spirits (and clips). After completing a ritual, exclusive shareables are released as mother gives her approval. New diary pages were released throughout the week, building more and more tension until all was revealed…

The social campaign blended horror, feminism, a throwback to the film’s 70’s roots. We even made some shirts with cryptic phrases about a freaky mother. The commentary that accompanied the posts on social disarmed with its sass and relevance, working to build a cult following around the channels and film.
"MOTHER TENERBARUM, MOTHER LACHRYMARUM, AND MOTHER SUSPIRIORUM. DARKNESS, TEARS, AND SIGHS."
